This exhibition, organized in collaboration with Nahmad Contemporary, follows special presentations at Art Basel—which marked the start of the estate’s representation by the galleries. It precedes an exhibition at Perrotin Shanghai in March 2020.
Due to Miami Beach’s climate and status as a beloved holiday destination, swimming pools are a natural part of the city’s fabric. The distorted shape of the Bent Pool, however, makes us more aware of how objects are perceived relative to different contexts. Miami Beach is an area that has seen a rise in extreme weather and flooding; its landscape is in flux. Bent Pool encourages us to think about how we normally interact with our surroundings: how accessible or inaccessible they appear.

Arsham has been granted unprecedented access to the Réunion des Musées Nationaux–Grand Palais (RMN), a two-hundred-year-old French molding atelier that reproduces masterpieces for several of Europe’s major encyclopedic museums. Arsham was able to use molds and scans of some of the most iconic works from the collections of the Louvre in Paris, the Acropolis Museum in Athens, the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and San Pietro in Vincoli as source material for this new body of work.
