While much of MADSAKI’s work centers on his interest in art history and critiquing mass culture with references to slang, movies and manga characters, the artist has recently been exploring more personal, intimate topics. To express this visually, MADSAKI developed a signature style using spray paint as a fine art medium, stemming from the fact that he has never participated in illegal graffiti on the streets.

Continuing his exploration of the forms of political and scientific power, Laurent Grasso proposes new research into the power of waves, a matter which, although invisible, has tangible effects. The space of the gallery is bathed in frequencies emitted by hybrid and active sculptures whose electromagnetic activity can potentially act on the visitor’s body and mind.

3018 continues Arsham’s dystopian vision of the future, one in which culture as we know it today is eroded, and the objects of modern life have fallen into aestheticized obsolescence.

The exhibition showcases a significant progression in the artist’s visual language and themes over the past several years. Along with the brand-new series of paintings, the exhibition features works created over the past six years which highlight Mr.’s technical drawing strengths beyond painting. Ranging from the kawaii (cute) to the kowai (scary, dark), this large selection of works also reflects his creative journey through the high and low, bright and dark explorations of various subject matters.
